Default Garnering more hits to a website
Hey y'all I'm at a loss. I have a client who is wanting me to do something to get more hits for his site, but I can't for the life of me figure out how. I've thought about metatags but then I read about them and what I read said that they are basically a waste of time.

My client's site is build out of flash so there is not body text.

I'm seriously at a loss y'all.

Any suggestions?

Flash sites are hard to get ranked high on any search engine because of the lack of text but you can do it. You need to build back-links which will raise your search results on Search Engines which will drive more traffic. Is there a chance the site can be redone without flash to allow for unique content?

Meta tags may be a waste of time for Google but not for all search engines. It takes minutes to do them so you might as well add them.

Another option is to buy traffic (not the 1,000 clicks for $5 or anything). Buy from pay per click services like google and overture.

This is more question for SEO and SERP but anyway...
Most import part of "to get more hits for his site" is optimization.
They are again 2 part. On-site optimization with good keyword in title, structure of site etc.. and Off-site optimization with increasing number of links with good anchor.

Meta tags are only a waste of time if you want to ignore all of the meta crawlers out there. Dogpile has a huge following and their meta crawler pulls results from many places including the sites indexed by the major search engines.

I'm unfamiliar with Flash programming but adding comments within the code that the search engine could read might help too. Writing and submitting articles to article directories is a great way to generate inbound links AND traffic from sources other than search engines.

For Flash websites that aren't good with SEO, the best thing to do is just advertise and implement some kind of link-baiting program, not so much for the links but for the associated traffic.

A TV advertisement! That would cost thousands. Even if he gave you the money to do something like that it would be very time consuming.
