Default Freelance Photo Gallery

Hey there,

For those familiar with freelance programming websites, I would like your opinion on a possible photo gallery.

Most freelance websites have a coder profile page. On this page, there is usually a coder photo. I want to have at least one photo on this page.

However, I was considering have a photo gallery linked to this page so coders can show off more photos, either of themselves or graphic work they have created.

Please let me hear your opinions as to whether you think this would be a good enhancement, or whether you think more than one photo would be overkill.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Travis Walters

Hey there,

One thing I should have mentioned..

For the real estate website I recently created, it has about 500,000 photos and that takes up 10GB disk space.

My goal is to have 250,000 coders signed up within 5 years. So if each coder uploads 5 photos, and those photos have to be resized, each coder could have 10 photos total. So that is 2,500,000 photos, which means photos alone would take up about 50GB of disk space.

Coders will be uploading packages and completed software projects so there will be more space consumed with that.

What I am concerned about is having a server that is capable of handling all this disk space. so if anybody has any suggestions, please advise.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Travis Walters

It has its pros and cons. For me I would prefer to work with someone who speaks English so photos would help me avoid... Indians... They are great workers, I just can't communicate well with them.

Hey there,

Thanks for the response.

I was thinking of having some sort of language proficiency filter on my coder search.

The only bad thing about that is coders can enter whatever they want. It would be nice if there was some sort of language proficiency website on the internet. That would make a great partner website.

I am doing something with coder skills. For example, they could enter whatever they wanted but that does not indicate how proficient they are with the programming language. So I was thinking maybe I could create some advanced tests that measure it. Maybe a website like this already exists.

Sincerely,
Travis Walters
