Dreamweaver is also a good IDE for PHP. Very easy to do layouts and design although some of the HTML functions irritate me. For instance, I had to design a layout for a product card print-out. Even though I manually changed all the tables to a fixed width and size dreamweaver kept expanding this card. It kept going beyond the size of a page - very annoying.

Yeah - dreamweaver does have its drawbacks - But when compared to MS Frontpage - there's really just no comparison... Dreamweaver is a nice proggie - It's either that or manual coding for me LOL -----> I'm too lazy - so I suppose we all know who wins...

I use dreamweaver for really basic purposes. Ie to draw up a table or generate a template. It takes away alot of handcoding, but you really do need to get into the code to learn about what is going on there.

Well if you use Dreamweaver enough and you study the code after it is generated, you start to pick it up, like a second language. Or at least that's my assumption.

Can't believe I actually used Frontpage back in high school...

Dreamweaver > Frontpage anyday.

I like dream weaver! I have started raw coding html, but I always seem to come back to dreamweaver when I am stuck on certain elements!

Dreamweaver is great for when you want to design something you have no idea how to code. Editing and inserting basic content is easy, but making crazy, colorful designs, it's just easier to use the DW.

But does Dreamweaver also add tags and code that you dont need or want?
Thats what I worry about when using a GUI editor.

Not that I recall, but once again I compare it to FrontPage... if there are any addins, you can find the 1 or 2 rather than in FrontPage the entire thing is garbage added in.
