Lately, I've had to work in Cold Fusion and ASP, and have found Crimson Editor to be a nice environment. For images, I usually use either MS Paint or GIMP.

Wow, it's been a while since I last posted, sorry about that.

I find that MS Paint is easier to use in some aspects as opposed to Photoshop. The latter, of course, has more features, but I use both in conjunction with each other.

    ---

I find GIMP very hard to use. I have it at school, and I have no idea how to use it. Is Crimson Editor available online to download?

I basically just started designing and I'm really inexperienced in Photoshop, so I haven't done much in there. When I learn a little bit from tutorials I'll use that more often. For the coding I use Dreamweaver. Over time I'll switch over to Notepad though.

You actually can use MS Paint as a decent editor? I've seen some people make amazing stuff with it, but I always figured they were just insanely skilled. I don't think it is widespread used for image editing.

    For graphics:
    MS Paint
The GIMP <- Can't afford that Photatoshop stuff...

    For coding:
Notepad <- Both CSS and XHTML

Another thing I recomend is the Web Developer plugin for FireFox. Very, very useful tool. You can swith between different CSS stylesheets, easily validate your HTML and CSS amongst several other things. You can even see if IE7 will enter Quirks-mode.

    Get it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/60

I'm really surprised that I did not see PHP Designer from MPSOFTWARE | PHP IDE » phpDesigner 2008 the PHP IDE for all PHP Development! (former PHP Designer). PHP Designer now is my all time favorite development software.

I used to use Frontpage, Dreamweaver and Notepad, but there were a lot of problems with each one, especially when I moved into PHP development.

For images, I usually consult friends who are artistic and they use software like photoshop to put images together for a site.
