Could google.com be considered a Web Portal?
A classmate and I are arguing about it and he is saying it isn't considered a web portal.
I just want to make him EAT his words because he thinks he knows it all because he already has a degree in Networks and this will be his second degree for web design.

No, Google is a search engine. iGoogle would be a portal.
Web portal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaA web portal presents information from diverse sources in a unified way. Apart from the standard search engine feature, web portals offer other services such as e-mail, news, stock prices, information, and entertainment. Portals provide a way for enterprises to provide a consistent look and feel with access control and procedures for multiple applications, which otherwise would have been different entities altogether. Examples of a web portal are MSN, Yahoo!, AOL and iGoogle.
Im my point of view, Google is not a portal, as in my mind, a portal is a collection of links. in my mind, a Yahoo or MSN is a portal, but Google is not set up that way.
