Hi folks
which one would be best to learn? I have a book on both and they are really different.
Cheers
I would go for the .NET language, Visual Basic.net.
Visual Basic.net have OOP facilities, which Visual Basic haven't.

I know Visual Basic 6.0, but I wish I knew VB.net, it's more powerful and nowadays .Net is being used more and more, so if you ave time go for the .net!
There is no reason to choose Visual Basic 6. It's old and no longer supported by Microsoft.
Visual Basic 2005 Express is free, so you should definitely start with that.
You might also want to consider REALbasic. It is better than VB6, but far less complicated than VB 2005.

I would agree that VB 2005 is both free and very easy to use/learn. I had to learn it on the fly for a course I was taking and didn't have any problems.
I vote for .NET also. It is like choosing to learn Cobol or C++. Learn the new language that employers want.
I too would say that you should learn .net, why after all should you learn an old language that is no longer supported? (the old language being VB6)
Learn VB.Net, but make sure you first study the .net framework, as the language isn't as important as what the framework can do.
I would choose VB.NET, i just made the migration from VB6 and i'm glad i did. VB6 is outdated and i find VB.NET gives you greater control over the application, as well as it's up-to-date support.
Tbh once you actually learn how the .NET framework works it is easier to migrate/port to other .NET framework languages!
