Hello...
I have VB 2008 that I download for free from Microsoft's website as a college student. I was curious what the legal issues of selling programs I make are. Wouldn't be making too much money, just automating some basic tasks for people upon request.
I'm a Linux user/coder 99% of the time, so I have no idea where Mico$oft stands on this (though I can only imagine).
Thanks.
Visual Basic is a coding language just like any other.
As long as you have fully developed the source code, or derived your code from an open source application, Microsoft would have no problem with you selling the application.
Although the British Government on the other hand, making money without declaring it, is in fact against the law.
Microsoft doesn't have any legal issues with you selling products developed by it's language. i do that all the time.
of course you need to send me 10% though

As far as I can remember the student licence excludes selling any applications compiled using it.
