Default TV size for video games

I was in some other forum yesterday where a bunch of kid were talking about the size of tv screen needed to play the latest video games..Use to be you could hook up these games to any old tv and it would work. Now is it required to have a huge flat screen tv to play these games. Are the older tvs not good enough ?

Most cant handle the resolution. Older TV's that is. But if you get a huge flatscreen, sometimes they cant handle it either, just because of the contrast ratio and resolution.

I'm using a rear projection Flat screen for my PS II and I know it must not be done as its not good for the TV, as it says in some game manuals.

What about the old time black and white tvs. I know that color is ideal but would it work on the black and white tvs?

Yeah, and TV size never mattered for me. Only an Old TV where I cannot plugin the AV Cable was a problem.
