#667878 Having trouble deciding what to charge for one page site

Posted by KodeKool on 03 February 2014 - 10:46 AM

man, I feel like I overshot the estimate now. lol.

I would say do it for free if in return he recommends you to his friends as a good programmer! :)

I'd be tempted to charge him $5 and call it good.

Charge him $10 and have a very happy customer who will recommend you!

those are all good suggestions. but i don't want to look cheap at the same time. I thought about it all last night. and seeing as how i'll be setting up the environment, web mail, redirecting the url's using .htaccess and such, i think i'll call it an even $50 for the form and other services rendered. thoughts?

#654738 Need some encouragement

Hi CryTekEN :)

I am just getting ready to graduate from Internet Applications and Web Development Fundamentals, and although it may not be as intense as some of the training I am guessing many people on CodeCall have, it was pretty hard at times. I agree with KodeKool about working up from the small stuff, but I also agree with lespauled. I found that putting what I learned to use on other projects as I went really helped. Another thing that helped immensely was writing myself detailed tutorials. It made it stick in my brain, which is tough for me because of narcolepsy.

If you enroll in any courses that qualify you as a full time student, be sure to take advantage of discounts. I got Visual Studio 2010 Professional for $170!

Whatever you decide, you are in the right place. I don't think I would have made it through school if I didn't find CodeCall. I can't begin to tell you how many nervous breakdowns these guys saved me from!

NO WAY! I'M ABOUT TO GRADUATE FROM THE SAME COURSE! fanshawe college? and lol. i agree completely. :P

well. im not really sure what to tell you... you have to start with the small stuff before you can get to the good stuff.

One example in particular being video games. you have to know how to print text to the screen before you can allocate memory, process the path of an image, anti-alias, and manipulate the different graphics in an algorithmic pattern run by a logic kernal across a package of 5-6 classes that make up what might be your best work yet.

What im saying is that it may not look like fun at all. but i can guarantee you that that countdown program will be more useful than you think as im sure it shows the functions used to create and access Threads. which is key to any part of game development, or high-level, time dependent programs in general.

If you're looking for a career in programming however, i believe you'll find that both C++ and C# provide an equal opportunity in their respective fields (capabilities and company specifics rather than programming in general) I know that xbox arcade games are coded in C#, and I believe most of the console games as well.

Whereas C++ is viewed as a massively powerful, all around great language to code desktop programs (software) with.

to sum things up. it all depends on what you want to do for a career.
