Catching up on episodes of Silicon Valley...and the storyline is about a revolutionary new compression algorithm?! I wonder if they have been lurking on CodeCall...

Hmmm, just seen this: http://www.iflscience.com/technology/new-type-computer-capable-calculating-640tbs-data-one-billionth-second-could - doesn't this look a lot like a computer in a cube - that runs very fast?

I seems everyone just gets their idea's from here.

"Install AVG Security Toolbar, set, keep, and protect AVG Secure Search as my homepage and default search provider..." as stealth install with GOM Player's update EULA...hmmm, seems legit.

I recently went through the process of fixing a computer for a friend. Her daughter had installed BearShare, and it was loaded with junk. *sigh*

Bearshare, Limewire, and the rest are just portals to evil...nothing good ever comes from sharing "free" stuff.

Thought I'd seen it all until I saw this: "Free Software! *This software is absolutely free to run and use for a lifetime - only downloading requires a reasonable fee." Hmm...

Yeah heh. It's like GPL software I believe, you can still charge for the cost of the download. I mean if it were 1.2GBs and popular sure I'd pay $5, but why not torrent it at that point and let others share your load?

Yeah...I think you may be right about the license, and I think that the site was trying to use it as a slick marketing ploy. You had to pay $29.95 to join the site, then you could d/l the free software.

Pretty awful, unless the membership is really worth the $30 and the software is just a bonus kind of deal that comes with it. If it is the other way around, then there is no excuse.
