#680814 I give up.

Posted by Vaielab on 25 October 2015 - 04:44 PM

Thank you WingedPanther73 for all that time.

I pretty much got the same reflection a while ago, and get the same result (but without the mugs or tshirts).

I had a lots of fun over the years here, and I know it's in big part because of you

Hope you'll find a new home (forum home) and have fun :)

#678666 Username Tweak

Posted by Vaielab on 02 April 2015 - 04:30 AM

What, who is this WingedPanther73 that you are talking about? :P

Actually, if you didn't make a post about it, I would assume that I never really read your full username, and that was your name all along (I don't trust my memory)

#677044 Is it a "strong" password?

Posted by Vaielab on 22 December 2014 - 05:31 PM

That why there are software like keepassX where you can generate password like NKi"N(haoI!<&CGGLQ%Yb),s@=.Mx7}08IYZM?iXMwn_vlDPRv and still remember them ;)

#676978 Blogs

Posted by Vaielab on 18 December 2014 - 10:24 AM

Hi there,

I don't usually respond to blog, but for my part, I almost read them all.

But my question... why not do both?

I never tried it, but I know there is a rss import function in the blog, so you could publish it on your own site, and it will be publish here too at the "same" time.

#673915 Does facebook still send friend request on it's own?

Posted by Vaielab on 13 August 2014 - 05:28 AM

A lots of people import their email contact to facebook without realising it.

So, if you ever sended an email to someone on hotmail or gmail, most likely, facebook will import their contact and send you a friend request.

Since you havent been on facebook for the last 2 years, you have 2years of people importing their contacts (and adding your email at the same time)

When you did came back, facebook just send you all thoses request one shot insted of one by one over the past 2years.

Theses days, I'm pretty much just receiving friends request from people I work with

#673781 First phone

Posted by Vaielab on 07 August 2014 - 12:47 PM

Basically all of the above & don't become entrapped in the "DROID VS iOS" war, both have their pros and cons...different uses for different people...

Don't worry, I won't enter the war android vs ios, because android has already won the war, and I could not be happier :P (I seriously hate most of the apple products)

What I want to know is how you could live without a cell phone until now...

It's simple, I +/- follow the rules of voluntary simplicity (not sure that the word in english), but I try to have only the minimum material stuff possible.

I don't care about all that, my tv is about 15years old, don't have a car (I have the money if I wanted one, but don't), always move by walking or by bike, and appreciate what is free and public to everyone :)

1) On a good night, I can sleep maybe 3hours
2) I miss the time when I had no responsability, and my only job was to wrap bag in a grocery store
3) For the last 2-3years, I'm working on a book I'm writing... currently there is about 20pages I did not delete, the rest I kept deleting it... in the years 4000 I will have a good book to show you all :)

#673407 Fiction publishing website - any thoughts?

Posted by Vaielab on 25 July 2014 - 03:29 PM

I like the look, very clean & professional, easy to read, easy to find, great presentation!

I run yslow on your website, you get a score of 74, wich is pretty good.

Try to modify your htaccess to use gzip, the site will load slightly faster, but the rest is very good

Great site!

#672869 Tell me what you think of my website.

Posted by Vaielab on 08 July 2014 - 09:50 AM

Pro:

Great design, simple, right to the point, yslow give you a note of "B", wich is pretty good

Con:

Optimise your images!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, your site is 34.8mb, the normal user will take forever to load this page, and most of the time, will simply close the window before the site finish to load. Resize your image in photoshop, and optimise them for the web.

The menu need more work. The links move when I put the mouse on them, so I cannot click on it fast, the tooltip sometime doesn't show completly, the is no reasy for the tooltip anyway... and it make the whole site move them I move over the menu, so I'm distracted from the menu.

#672210 KVM SWITCH

Posted by Vaielab on 14 June 2014 - 07:14 AM

You will need a video wall processor (sometime called a screen splitter)

I looked at some computer part selling site (amazon, newegg, tiger...) but didn't find any

I know the compagny network tech inc have some model that does the tricks ( http://www.networkte...d-splitter.html ) but like I said the price vary between 3 000 and 4500$

The compagny matrox have some models too, but it's only sli card, so you need a sli box, and they don't show the price on the website, which means, it's gonna be pretty pricy too

#672199 KVM SWITCH

Posted by Vaielab on 13 June 2014 - 07:25 PM

It does not matter what os you use when we are talking about a kvm switch, it simply work

The only thing you have to look for is if you have the correct connector on every single on your computer

Normally, you have a button on your kvm switch (sometime it's sync to a button on your keyboard), and you alternate between each computer

I google "IOGEAR GCS2SU" to find the kvm stats, but didn't find anything, are you sure this is the correct model number?

And to split your screen into 4... as far as I know, you need a pretty professional setup to do so, and this will cost you a lots!

#670548 Blogs

Posted by Vaielab on 29 April 2014 - 08:49 AM

Hello fellow codecoders

I was wondering if it was possible to get a section on the main page, just below or above the "Recently discussed forum topics" section where we could see the last blog entries? The same way the post are, if we didn't read the blog, it will be in bold, so it will encourage people to go read them.

Sometime the blog can have very interesting article, but are most often forgot since there is little to no visibility on the main codecall page.

With more views, maybe people will be more interested to publish blog articles from time to time.

What do you think?
