#646825 barcode with addtional informations

Posted by Colanth on 09 December 2012 - 09:14 PM

Your HTML code is specifying a height. (If it's not, just specify $height at the top of your PHP code.) The default height is 80, so figure out how much more you need and/or guess and trim it when you see it, so it looks right.

Sure, if:

1) The code includes letters. (Some barcodes are digits only.)
2) You rewrite the code generator to generate that barcode. The current code only generates 3 of 9.

I just put my house on the market. I'd like a nice little bidding war for Christmas.

#641887 Processing php code containing php file.

Posted by Colanth on 14 October 2012 - 04:26 PM

1) If you don't know where the file is, you can't access it. In any language. It's like getting to main street without knowing which city it's in. It doesn't matter which car you use, you can't do it.

2) The eval() construct (it's not a function, it's a construct) may do what you need.

3) As the first comment for the construct says, "If eval() is the answer, you're almost certainly asking the
wrong question. -- Rasmus Lerdorf, BDFL of PHP"

You can use Microsoft's version of C++ on your computer, so you don't have to learn a new language yet. (There's a free version.)

#639550 Increasing a value on mysql database

Posted by Colanth on 22 September 2012 - 08:12 PM

A where clause uses

where a = b and c = d

and, not &.

Second, text has to be quoted:

$result = mysql_query("Update players set att='$att' where UID=$UID and Ename='$Enme'" ) or die(mysql_error());

(Assuming that UID is a numeric field and Ename is a text field.)

Try those changes and see if you have other errors.

(If you use FirePHP, you can send the queries to the browser so you can see exactly what they look like. Alternatively you can echo them then exit for testing purposes.)

#639537 validating database connection

Posted by Colanth on 22 September 2012 - 07:16 PM

Execute an onerror statement before you attempt to connect to the database. If the connection fails, your error code will trap it and give the user a nice neat message.

Disconnect the cable, set a breakpoint in the error code and run the program. When it breaks, debug.print error, number and you'll know which error number to trap for the "Your UTP cable appears to be disconnected. Please call the IT department." messagebox. Then you can exit the program nicely or do what ever else you want at that point.
