I just tar all of my important files:

tar -zcvf home.tar.gz /home/crop/*

I can always restore the OS to default and just untar my files.

Just put your boot CD in and let the installer run. It will partition your drive. It is in the last paragraph from Jordan's post above.

It is in your logwatch.conf file (/etc/). Edit it and remove your email. It should be near the top.
