#678939 what is the error?

Posted by wim DC on 16 April 2015 - 03:25 AM

Excuse our short responses, the problem is that there's so much wrong with this program I don't even know where to begin. And our responses are being bold mainly because we're feeling you don't put much effort into this. Both program or taking the time to post on the forum.

if you tell is "what is the error" and then dont' even write the error you get, we don't know anything.

I think you can better start again from a working program and gradually add lines and compile to see if what you write is correct.

() No idea what this is
import.java.Scanner; 1) That is not the syntax of an import. Java. 2) java.Scanner doesn't even exist.
public class program1{ It's not wrong for the compiler, but it should be Program1 with Capital letter
public static void main(String[] args){
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
s.o.p("enter the pris of abaisc"); sop
double a= input.nextDouble();
s.o.p sop
("enter the pris of alawas"); weird enter
double b= input.nextDouble();
s.o.p("enter the pris of house rent");sop
double c= input.nextDouble();
s.o.p("the total salary"+total(a,b,c); sop
public static double total(double d, double e, double f){
double total;
(for int i=1;i>=5;i++) that's not how you write a for loop. Both syntax and condition are wrong.
total=d+e+f; Why do this 5 times
retern total; retern + I guess compiler will complain about total not being initialised.

#678064 Staying Awake

Posted by wim DC on 23 February 2015 - 01:41 AM

Assuming you actually sleep a decent amount like 7hr+, you should try setting your alarm up to 30min earlier or later. If you wake up feeling tired your body was in a deeper sleep at that moment and you wake up sleepy. There are better moments during your sleep where your body is closer to being awake, and waking up at those moments make you feel much better.

Of course it varies a bit per day, but I think it's kinda consistent a little bit, just find the sweet spot :)

There's apps on phones that track your noise, body movement and will wake you up accordingly too.

I also heard of the glass of water before +1

#676917 Is it a "strong" password?

Posted by wim DC on 16 December 2014 - 05:52 AM

It's easy, Just make passwords longer :)

turn "aTropina12" into "ilikeaTropina12alot". And it goes from 6 years to crack to 90 quadrillion years to crack (on https://howsecureismypassword.net/)

I like this one :

Are you sure the strength of your password was the reason you got lower grades and not how well you secured / stored / hided them? It seems a bit weird to receive grade deductions based on that (Unless it was some sort of security related course )

#675165 Your opinion about CodinGame

Posted by wim DC on 01 October 2014 - 04:45 AM

I have to admit, I am instantly addicted to this. It's like LOGO for adults :)

Lol 3 of us at work spent our entire lunchbreak on this xD Very fun indeed. Definitely the ones with the movie-style running of the code.

A few quick things we noticed:

- achievements are not always displayed after submitting the code, even though we gotten them on our profile.

- the 0-100% progress to DONE on the http://www.codingame.com/puzzles page is not immediately set to 100% after fully completing the puzzle (it gets to 100 in a minute or so)

  I assume it's intended as some backend stuff is running, but it was a bit confusing at first as to why it was not saying 100% done.

- We might be blind but it took us a while to discover the fact you can scroll down in the "game" part of the screen to read the puzzle description. As the first puzzles have that video / animation display which fits nicely in the box, we didn't realise more was under it.

- I can't find the details of my submitted run. Like how much time did my original submission took for the first puzzle on easy? Also to see the code you submitted.

#673816 First phone

Posted by wim DC on 08 August 2014 - 04:31 AM

I wonder if we should make a new lounge thread, cause Vaeielab's phone won't run minecraft ( I think? :3 )

I would probably enjoy digging redstone more than making the circuits :>

As for my most used apps are :

whatsapp: free texting, sending pictures/sound/whatever to other people with whatsapp. (By miles my most used app on my phone)

Translate: Basically google translate in an app

Something for train schedules in Belgium

World of warcraft related thingies :P

Oh, what you can also do now is have 2 step authentication or whatsitcalled. It feels good having it for my (g)mail.

edit: here it is https://support.goog...er/180744?hl=en

It keeps the Chinese people out  :biggrin:

Edit: I just see we changed topic since page 2 already. We did well, CodeCall  :D

#671869 Coffee & Smoking

Posted by wim DC on 03 June 2014 - 07:18 AM

Hehe, well I'm surprised that there aren't more people on here who smoke. We all know how bad it is for you but oh well, if it's not the cigarettes that kill you it will be climate change or AIDS,.. or maybe just of old age.

Point is, everyone dies so you should make the best of it. Ofcourse, you don't want your life to be all miserable and live your last moments in pain so yes, I plan on quitting in july. Smoked for about a year now and well, I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to quit even though about 5% of people who smoke are able to quit after smoking for a year.

So you can just grab a gun and shoot yourself right now, we all die anyway, right? :P

Of course you say no to this. Because you want to live longer, and that's where smoking doesn't help as it (may) makes you live shorter, like Russia said.

#669968 Twitch Streamers / YouTubers?

Posted by wim DC on 11 April 2014 - 05:55 AM

I got youtube on almost all the time. Either as high-bandwidth music channel, or just put on a Let's play on my other screen for glancing at it / the sound.

I force myself not to watch/read anything about dark souls 2 until it's out on pc. Damn you :(

Heavily into minecraft atm :P

As for streamers/youtube I watch absolutely everything from Roosterteeth's Let's play channel https://www.youtube.com/user/LetsPlay

For dark souls, http://www.youtube.c...ser/oroandpeeve was pretty fun to watch too.

#668209 Full Encryption using javascript and PHP only

Posted by wim DC on 11 February 2014 - 07:03 AM

I think this all got a bit out of hand. If I understand it right, all Alexander was trying to say that for truly securing pages like this it's not enough to only use your script(s). Securing it would involve a combination of things and not only implement the script to send data encrypted.

Alexander just said that by using your script, and not taking other measures you're still at risk because the data you receive in your browser doesn't come straight from the server over 1 cable into your computer. It goes from Server A to B to router C ... Arrives at your PC Z. And when in the chain F is hijacked, they could - theoretically - just edit the javascript files so for example 'encryptToServer( clientPlainText)' simply does nothing but carry on the plain text, rendering your script useless.

It's probably a good script for encrypting data and helps keeping client/server communications secure. But the script alone won't be enough for a 100% secure communcation.
