#639476 what topic to choose in computer science

Posted by fread on 22 September 2012 - 03:47 AM

A good option would have been to cover each at different semesters. That way you can decide which one you prefer after getting your feet wet on both. Sometimes you may think you like something and after you get knee deep, you realize you don't really like it as much.
An informed decision seems wise.

Welcome to CodeCall, yingyang! Do you have an outline of the course material? If you do, you can start by reading some of the material, so when its done in class, you catch on quickly. This will also give you a chance to ask questions on things you did not understand during your first read through.

#630758 Which Programming Languages To Start With ?

Posted by fread on 29 May 2012 - 05:03 AM

Welcome to CodeCall, Era11!
I am guessing you don't do much low level programming on your job ( --> Posted Image C  <-- ). Given that, I nominate Java, JavaScript and PHP.

Happy Coding!

Yes learn JQuery or at least another framework. Managing JavaScript code across browsers will make you loose sleep (lots of sleep).

#615990 Removing duplicates from a 1D array

Posted by fread on 04 December 2011 - 06:01 AM

...OK, you need a down to earth version?...

You nest loops four layers deep and use two arrays. I really don't see how this is much different from what we were explaining. I will like to see the performance if the files had 10000 numbers each :w00t:.

Note: this could be done without nesting a single loop, one array and you end up with a sorted list.
