In Topic: [C] Bus error when prompting user for filename?

Hi, got it to work now... from what I can see the active architecture was set to x86_64 rather than i386... I'm guessing this means it was thinking it was a 64 bit programa nd maybe that meant the memory addressing works differently? I dunno but changing to i386 seems to have worked...

Do you have much experience with xCode to maybe explain what went wrong there? Or does anyone else here?

Thanks

Weird... I'm on OS X snow leapord, so not sure if its a problem with my configuration of xcode or with OS X... I could try doing it just on the command line and also try GDB in Xcode...

Hi,

Yeah tried that first as I thought maybe the filename was too big, but I've tried it with as big as 500 and same problem. Im using the latest version of xcode, so I believe its gcc 4.2.1 (I think, not 100% sure).

Maybe its a problem with how the filename is being entered? Assuming the file is in the same project folder I should be able to just type it in right? Though Ive also tried entering the whole filepath and same problem occurs...

Thanks

Yeah I could see what you were trying. How about taking out the continues all together and re-asking the user to enter the value inside the if statement?

Edit: Just realise how horrible the advice I tried to post there was, Ill have a think on it and reply in a bit...

Have a look at the Loops and Conditionals part of this little online book. Its down in page 7. May have something similar to what you're looking for.
