Anyone managed to get into google wave? Finally I managed to get in... google sent me an invite Looks awesome.. something that I needed a year and a half ago, but I guess I'll use it when I need it, now that I have it
Since I moved to Au I applied for University and I showed them my BTEC National Diploma in Computing.. and they recognized it as Certificate IV in Computing... is that good or what? (I'm planning to continue to bachelors etc..)
I believe a lot on OOP because it makes life easier.. so, in PHP (for my latest project) I decided to make a functions.php and make every function there and then in the actual page I will only call a couple functions and the page will be properly displayed with all the components I want in it and with a simple call I can whatever component I want in whatever page I want.. but does this luxury come as a security threat?
for example the admin login process (which even if some ******* makes an SQL injection he will not be able to login still, because he will need something else) I made everything (nearly) hardcoded in the admin file it's self.. is that more secure or it would not make a difference if I had to code that as a function in functions.php
I need to generate some unique ids for me to put in a database as a primary key. Now, is there a chance that a unique id will be generated more than once?
I read online that it will be a 13 character long string, but I will only use the first few characters... so will that increase the chance of having duplicates?
And as this will be a primary key if the same key is generated twice it will cause an error... should I worry about checking if the key already exists (in which case this will add another extra query) or I should not bother about it?
I was thinking, which is the best way to use for multiplayer games... use sockets or one centralized server with a database and a table holding all the info (for example the x,y of the player etc) and the clients will always get that data.. i know it might be slower, but isn't that worth it.. because that way you will not have to design a server side, because the db will have everything, so you will concentrate on the client side only.. is that better or worse?
