Hacking Perl Script

28 September 2007 - 05:03 AM

I was looking through my log files and happened by a file upload that should not have been uploaded (through a script somehow they managed to upload although they shouldn't have access). I then immediatly went to the directory the script was inserted into "/tmp" and opened the file. The first line reads #!/usr/bin/perl and even though I have used perl before I still don't entirely understand what this script does.

Edit: Code Removed

I can see that it opens lynx and connects to the local machine but what does this do:

$system= 'echo "`uname -a`";echo "`id`";/bin/sh';

I understand echo and uname but is it calling /bin/sh?

From this point down I do not understand. Any of this I do not really understand what it is doing:

Can someone help me figure out what the intention of this script is?

Remove Autofill in FF

03 July 2007 - 09:17 AM

I have a login form for my private members and I don't want anyone to be able to "save" their password. The potential for people to get into this website and view things would be a very bad thing. Is there a way to prevent the password from being saved using JavaScript, PHP, HTML or otherwise?

I have seen sites where this could not be saved. One site I go to always asks me but it does not actually save the data. How is this done?

Making Code Faster

10 January 2007 - 06:24 AM

What methods do you guys use to make your C++ code faster? I've created a small query statement which I can't share but it executes very slow and uses more resources than anticipated. What can I do to make it faster?
