Tutorial to Remove the Virus "Trojan horse Startpage.ADE"

    Hey everyone,

I just got a virus before called Trojan horse Startpage.ADE by downloading an image. In case you ever get this virus I decided to run a little tutorial...

What does the virus actually do?
This virus disables you to use Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Java! The only program that is internet based that you will be able to access is MSN Messenger.

Why can I still access MSN Messenger?
The reason why is because you will usually get this virus when installing/downloading smilies for MSN Messenger.

How do I remove this virus?
I bet you are thinking that this tutorial would be absolutely nothing if I didn't tell you how to remove the actual virus! Anywho, read below:

    1. Open up the Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Internet Options and under "Browsing History" press "Delete..." Down the bottom press "Delete All..."
    2. Open up Mozilla Firefox (if you have it), click "Tools -> Options..." and click the "Clear Now..." button under "Private Data"
    3. Back to the Control Panel we go... Open up the Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Java and under "Temporary Internet Files" click "Delete Files...", and finally click "Ok"
    4. Now you must open up a virus scanner (I recommend AVG), do a whole computer scan & if there are any viruses left over heal them.

    How can I thank you?
Be simply posting in this thread!

    Kind Regards,
    ~~Clookid~~

I wrote it because I knew that this site sooner or later would get a large pagerank thus making it go to the top of the search engines. I had heavy problems with this so I decided to help everybody else out!

If I did get that Virus, I know how to delete it lol. (as you hav given the tutorial)
And my primary action is logging on by another windows and do a scan ASAP.
I have windows on 2 partitions and can face almost any Virus, But I don't get them often as I don't search for.

If you ever get "Trojan horse Dialer 17.E" simply go into the control panel -> add/remove programs and remove a program somewhere along the lines of New.Net. You will usually get this virus from MSN Messenger smilies.

    Step-1
After you have cleared all the temporary files, and the history

    Step-2
Remove all unnecessary Startup items and unknown services at the configuration utility.

    Step-3
    Re-store your backup

If its not removed yet, you of course may want to use a Anti-Virus software.

I hope it would sort out
