sweet..... must try... can't help but wonder though- what if I installed it to a microSD card, and plugged my phone in at boot? I mean, when i plug my phone into my car stereo (USB), it acts the same as when I plug the card directly into the SD slot on the stereo... hmmmmm... I will let you know what happens! (be kinda funny to watch someone boot linux off a phone plugged into your PC lol)
+REP DEFINITELY
Thank you ParabolaGood luck with the phone

Ive looked into making a usb driven OS for on the road, and I was told that the BUS speed of USB drives is not equivalent to standard HD speeds, and a lot of Apps wouldn't actually run. I was basically just dumping the install of programs into my usb drive and hoping to run it on a remote computer, but it wasn't working because the registry settings that some of the applications relied on were not actually going with the app on the usb drive and would only allow me to run the program off of the drive when I was on the computer that I ran the initial install on. Anyways.. Ill have to go over this tutorial again and actually read it, im interested to see how to get this to work.
If you're just taking your Windows apps, and not the whole OS, then check out PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB drives
Ive seen that PortableApps.com, the thing is though, you HAVE to use there portable apps. Well, what if i wanted a usb drive that I could take a huge game like World of Warcraft over to someones house, plug in my drive and fire up the game right there. I don't think PortableApps.com offers possibilities like that. They just have some lightweight Apps that could just as easily be downloaded quickly from the computer that I would be trying to port everything too. Thats why I'd like to figure out how to run large demanding apps off of a high capacity usb drive. Anyways... let me know what you think.
That's not a problem, as far as I know. I mean, the bus speed. The OS and apps will run _slower_ than from a hard drive, but it will definitely runI haven't tried any games (except a chess match because I was bored...) so I don't know about the performance drop exactly. You should technically be able to install WoW, though, go to any computer (even on school *evil laughter*) and play just fine. Possibly getting lower FPS, but you'll have to try.
