I applaud TCM9669 for taking the time to create the pdf of how to create a pdf. It is definitely an alternative to buying the Acrobat 7 Professional. I am not in position to say which is better. I do like TCM's pdf and instructions and think he deserves a thumbs up!

Yeah but your version looks a little better and I think there are Online converters as well, give them a try and I have made some cool PDF Files by those and had no problem.

I tend to use OpenOffice for creating PDFs. It handles the vast majority of what I need without any fuss.
