I started this a couple months ago. It's a portable menu and "vault" for your flash drive.

The vault is a folder on the flash drive that is inaccessible. It works by using ntfs file permissions to prevent accessing a folder on the flash drive called "vault."

 

It's definitely not gonna keep the world from accessing your files, but it will keep the average person from viewing them.

 

If anyone has any ideas for this project, it would  be great to hear them :)

Interesting. Have you test this on any linux distro. I encoutered one of this kind that shows nothing at all on a linux distro because it's run as an executable
