How to get started with Delphi?

Can anybody help me know how to get started with delphi? i.e what compiler to use? Which IDE to use(obviously open source stuff) and where do i get beginner tutorials??

Delphi is both a compiler AND an IDE. You can find a free trial here: http://www.embarcadero.com/downloads

If you want a "totally free version of Delphi", you can try out Lazarus here: http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/ It doesn't have all the features of Delphi, but is very similar, and much of the code in one works in the other.

But i need to learn this.. Any pdf or links? Please don't suggest the about.com and some other places.. I have tried them but couldn't find the console app just the gui part I saw.

Delphi's GUI oriented. There is a command-line compiler available, but it is VERY hard to use compared to compiling through the GUI.

It's very easy to create console application in Delphi. You may post your problem with Delphi console application here and we'll try to help you.
