Hey, I've made a small example here: http://jsfiddle.net/akgQj/5/
Mouseover the navbar. Over 'create' you'll see my body's content will jump to the right. Which I obviously don't want.
And I don't see how I can stop that :(

do you have any z-index on the menu?

Nope, no z-index, adding one doesn't do anything either.
Making the <ul> float has no effect either, but setting position: absolute (as I found on the internet) does help.

However, with absolute my submenu is no longer vertical, but horizontal.

Edit: aah, okay that's because my submenu's <li> tags had float: left on them :)
