Hello Codecall,

Rentrak, a leader in the emerging industry of media information management, is looking for at least 1 strong C++ developer to join our team in Portland OR. This is a full time, direct hire and relocation assistance can be provided.

Rentrak is an established (35 years) company but with a startup environment that fuels the creativity of our development team. If you like creating applications based on BIG data, this could be a good fit.

Details and applications can be found at www.rentrak.com or feel free to post questions here and I will answer them.

Thanks!

We use C++ for back end work and Perl for front, and the back end team is where the current need is. However, we aren't as concerned with strength in any particular language as much as strength in SOME language because it's the problem solving and communication skills we are really after, the syntax is secondary and if you are sharp, training is easy!

The job entails accessing huge Postgres databases to create the applications based on the requirements of customers. The environment is very collaborative and creative because you will need to dissassemble then reassemble the programs frequently.

oh ok ... not sure what do you mean by C++ backend .. and Perl front end ... I assume that C++ is dealing with database more than the perl part. Usually when I think about backend is pretty much database stuff in your case PostGres. is this on site only or telecom possible?

Your assumption is correct on the C++/Perl. This is on site only because the requirements change frequently and most of the time you would be programming with a partner on the various projects. Most of the devs really enjoy that aspect..along with lots of free lunches, hackathons, and other outside events.

Unfortunately we are only considering candidates within the US at this time.

I may have mis read that...we can sponsor if you are already in the US, but will not relocate from outside the US.
