I am thinking of writing a video editor similar to Adobe Premiere, but I don't know much about writing video editing software, so I need more information about this. Should I even try to do this, or is this too much of a task? How long does this type of task typically take?
If I do write this video editor, I want to start simple by only supporting one or two input formats and only one output format. And also I don't want all the effects for the start, but just the layers, opacity, masks/cropping, position, rotation, scale, chroma key, and some custom effects should suffice for now.
Any comments, suggestions, tips, or resources?
Thanks in advance.
