Rafi, welcome to the Android world !

as for tutorials i can't help it, i have to show you our very own tutorial sections, click here to go find our tutorials

in particular, since you are just starting i will point you to 3 particular tutorials, where you will find the answers to your first questions, like how do i program ? how do i sell in the market ? which ide ? etc, then you will find a tutorial on all the programmable android hardware in the market, and lastly where do you find all the programming resources in the net , that would be these 3 ones :

Android first questions answered

Android hardware

Android getting started

i hope you find that useful and i am looking forward to see you around :D

If you want to learn mobile application development
first you have to ask your self "What Mobile Operating System should I work on?" because every operating system of mobiles are different into each other so the Programming Language is different except if your mobile application is in the web.. so you can just use javascript and html5 for that and optimize it for mobile browsers.

If you want to work on Android OS then you have to learn JAVA first
If you want to work on iOS (iphone OS) then you have to learn objective - C
If you want to work on Symbian then it's good to practice python or java

etc.. there are many other mobile operating system like BlackBerry OS

Or, you can start with Windows Phone development with C# and XAML. MSDN is the best documentation on the internet with plenty of tutorials.

There's also cross platform solutions allowing you to use the same code on more than one mobile platform. It depends on what kind of development you want to do, there are tons of projects that helps you create games and I've heard about a few that does "standard" application development.

A few of them:

Games:

http://www.cocos2d-x.org/

http://unity3d.com/

http://www.openfl.org/

Not just games:

http://www.mosync.com/

http://www.appcelerator.com/

Then there's always the alternative to write your app in HTML+CSS+JS and use a product like PhoneGap (http://phonegap.com/) to package it for different platforms. Or you could do individual apps for every platform you want to target (Java for Andriod, Objective-C for iOS etc. as mentioned in previous posts).

Good luck!

There are various mobile operating systems out there (iOS, Android, Windows phone). You need to clarify first which one you want to dive in. For iOS, the official documents and demos are enough for u to get started. For Android, there is a thread with many suggestions in this sub forum.
