The report we are trying to make will get the sum of all total loan amounts. But whenever we click the Create report button we made, the report displays a prompt which asks for a value, and the sum of totals that appear in our report becomes (the number of entries in the records * the number entered in the prompt). What we need to know is how to make the report show the sum of the totals and not the value*value.

-- Right click on your field object (on footer) --> Click "Edit Total Running Field" in context menu
-- In the wizard, select the db field on which you want the sum operation (Red Bold in the attached image)
-- Select 'sum' from the 'Type of Summary' combobox.
