Hi, is it wise to buy metals like gold or silver to protect some money that you don't plan to use soon from inflation?

Short answer is yes. Price of precious metals will be "automatically adjusted" to follow inflation. But it should not be considered investment. As it don't actually have the chance to increase your fund value. Consider it as saving.
