hi,
I have built a chat application in flash.
I'm trying to display the number of users currently using the chat on my site.
In order to know how much users are using the chat I'm guessing I'll have to :
  • export the data to an xml file in my server (which will have to be write enabled premission) .
  • withdraw the data from the xml.
Thanks.

Your chat data could be stored in a LOT of different ways. It could be in a database, XML file(s), or many other formats. I would put it in a database in a neutral format (message/user/timestamp) and extract it in whatever format is needed for later use.

Why XML? Wouldn't it be easier to put it into a database, such as MySQL, and use a select statement to get the desired information?
