Glad to be here.

Coding is brand new to me. I intend to start with Python based on advice I've read and heard from some work friends.

Here's my initial gameplan:
  • I've heard good things about "Learn Python the Hard Way," so that seems to be a good start.
  • Lots of you have recommended reading as much code as possible, so that's high on the list as well!
  • ...That's it so far. :P I'm totally open to suggestions!

Looking forward to learning and getting involved with the community. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to our community! Glad you have joined us, learning Python with a well written book is a lot of fun - no need to learn all the subtleties of compiled languages. How are you finding the language so far?

I recommend down the road looking through various other languages (learning "crash course" style), many can teach you programming in different ways than any one language can.

Alexander.

Thanks for the welcoming words, everyone. I'm on Exercise 9 in Learn Python the Hard Way. It's a blast- I love the mental challenge, and I've only barely seen what Python can do yet!

I'll be sure to post questions in the appropriate places, absorb all I can and with some more experience maybe lend a hand to a newbie like myself!

Cheers.
