hi
what is the difference between ia64 & x64? for example which 64 bit version should I download from this page:

x64 is the architecture used for low-end PCs. IA-64 is used for the Itanium CPUs in high-end workstations and servers. I think you would want the x64 version.

IA64 is 64bit processor architecture from Intel. And it's not backward compatible with x86. IA64 is implemented in Intel's Itanium processor series.

x64 is actually is the same with AMD64, 64bit processor architecture developed by AMD is backward compatible with x86. When Intel acquire license to use AMD64, it gave this architecture new name, i.e. x64.

To answer your immediate problem, just check if your machine is run by a Itanium processor or not. If true, choose IA64 version, otherwise choose x64.
