Trying to decide what desktop environment I'll settle on. KDE is too slow, Unity is pretty nice, Gnome is nice, XFCE is fast, but I may settle on the "instant on" feel of Blackbox. I haven't checked out LXDE again. Tonight may be a summary of the various desktop feels.

I like xfce and fvwm. I utterly hate gnome and kde. Never used blackbox. All I want from my wm is the bare essentials for speed and a bit of ability to customize.

Saying you can optimize a program is like saying you understand how a program works on every level of every facet on a specific machines configuration.

I like KDE on my desktop. And I have IceWM on my notebook.
But I use Debian :)

I was actually demonstrating a few desktops to a friend. I'd forgotten how much I like XFCE. Hanging out with it for the time being.

Personally I don't like KDE and I am know sure why. Maybe bad experiences with Slackware.
Gnome :thumbup1:
XFCE :thumbup1:
I never really used blackbox for more than a day so I can't vouch for or speak against it.

KDE is SLOW.

The sad thing is, about 36 hours after the upgrade to 11.10, my computer died. Downloading my apps on my new laptop as we speak. Go from 13" to 17" monitor is a huge change. So is going from single core pentium to quad core i3 :)

Sure, as soon as they use "standard" keyboard shortcuts. Oh wait, that won't be happening :)
