Hello,

I want to get into programming, but I am not sure what language to start with. I've heard that almost everything is based off of C++, is this true? If it is, should I start with C++, or would anything work, for instance Java Script? Additionally, is it easier to learn other languages, once you know one? Finally, Do you know of any good websites or books to learn said language from?

Thank you!

It's not true. C++ is based off of C, for example. C++ is also inspired by SmallTalk, and a few other languages. Lisp is completely different.

Start with whatever language suits your fancy, and will let you accomplish what you want to do. The website will depend on the language.
Programming is a branch of mathematics.
