Heya,

In the past I've used Mathematica a lot for study and simulations, and, seeing how powerful it is, I wonder how it could be used to make games? Would it be used in conjunction with another programming language or game engine, or can it be used alone? I've been looking for tutorials on how to use it in any way to make games or GUIs but I haven't been able to find anything.

One of the features that I find particularly attractive about mathematica is its CAS system and the ease with which equation can be entered, something which could be useful in educational software.

Thx 8)

I have not seen any games coded in Mathematica. Would the recipient of the game have to have Mathematica installed to run it? If so, I wouldn't bother.

Hmm ideally they wouldn't (for example, you don't have to install mathematica to use wolframalpha), but then again I don't really know so I was just curious. On one of their industry solutions page they say that big companies like Valve, Bungie and EA use Mathematica in their games but they don't really mention how... in any case wouldn't this mean you wouldn't need to have mathematica installed?

Not sure. I haven't used Mathematica, so don't know it's full capabilities.
