Hi people
I'm Mr_mace. I want to learn programming because I think i may be studying Computer Science at university and also it is what i want to do later in life. I am pretty muhc a beginner, but i do know a little bit about python, and learning Visual Basic :) I was wondering how long do you think it takes to really master a programming language?

Welcome to our community Mr_Mace! Pull up a chair.
Learning a language can take weeks, learning to make complete applications may take months, mastering a trade of programming may take a decade.
Between those, you'll definitely have a lot of fun especially with more simple languages like Python. It really depends on how seriously you want to learn, maybe after a few months time you may be comfortable enough to help others or contribute to projects. Forums like this make it a lot more fun to learn, as it is with people.
Alexander.

Welcome aboard! Mastering a language depends on a LOT of things, including the language, your background and talent, energy put into learning it, etc.
One thing I can tell you: after your first, each additional language gets easier. If you lock yourself into one language, you risk becoming obsolete in your skill set.

Welcome to CodeCall Mr_Mace!
I realy wanted to answear your question: How long does it take to master a programming language?
To be realistic mastering a language is only depending on the person trying to master it. Some of us learn quicker and some learn little slower and needs to take time. Example my self i've been programming about 1 year i think.. I've already making progress with Android apps being released and im making my own Xbox game at the moment. Show intrest, show that you realy want to learn and it will go very good. I guarantee it!
Also there is a great tutorial section here on CodeCall you should totaly check it out!
