Hi there I am John Tate I also sometimes use nicks which are a variation on Kintaro. Hence I also use nicks in programing circles that refer to my middle name hence JoKi Tate. I first got into computing as a boy, where at the earliest ages I wrote programs on an old TI-99/4A. After that on a 386 I learned QBASIC and after many years of that on a trip with my family I came up with a threaded qbasic "engine." On my 13th birthday I got the book C++ for Dummies. I wrote a little C++ and also learned about Linux from an Australian publication The Linux Minibook which often comes with Fedora. By 15 I was alright with shell scripting, and learned some PHP from Sams PHP in 24 hours. By 17 I was a bit of a guru on forums and stuff, and that was when I started learning more advanced things about hacking from Hacking, the art of exploitation. I had trouble however with mental health, and my programming was postponed. I got it out again, and although I have been somewhat lone wolf I am an ardent thinker with far more ideas than any one person has to code.
So, hello fellow forum members it will be good to talk here.

Welcome to codecall JokiTate!
Perfection of means and confusion of ends seem to characterize our age. Albert Einstein

Welcome, TokiTate.
The first computer language I learned was HTML; I remember those 8th grade years, I was 14 back then. I wanted to learn how to make a webpage. I once Google searched how to, but I didn't believe the tutorial - I was afraid that I would look silly if I use all those tags and it doesn't work - , so I just saved a text file with new-lines, etc., as an HTML file. When I tested it, it was just a big, long paragraph, without any line breaks. That was enough to prove to myself that the tutorial was, in fact, serious about all those tags that can be used, and not just text.
My first programming language was Ruby. Back in the day, I thought that there was only one programming language, and after searching I stumped on a Ruby tutorial series. I later found out that there is more to programming than just one language.
Assembly and JavaScript are my two favorite languages. I guess Ruby is third place, but it's not very portable, so I don't use it that much. I don't have much time, these days, to do much programming, though; maybe during summer break I would have more time.
