First let me start off with the term network is not used as a computer network, but rather a network among people.

I want to start a business that competes in the IT industry. The main thing I need to do right now is find some other people to start this up with.

My question is what would you say the best way to find people?

In my experience as a freshman in college I can't seem to find people who have the necessarily skill set, are mature, motivated, and committed. I have looked at school, friends, and online... but still nothing.

I was just thinking if I did a project with some people on here then maybe that would help me network... so if I don't get anything good from this post that is probably my next move.

It really, REALLY depends on the type of people you want to network with. If you search around, there are probably local Linux Users Groups, IT groups, etc, etc, etc. If you're looking for people into MS technologies, your local LUG probably isn't a good idea, though :) Or it might be.

The sad part is I live in a smaller town so it is harder to find anything like LUG or IT groups.

Maybe I will start up my own group like this. Now that would be taking a step in the right direction. Thanks! Will defiantly try this!

Most towns have a company with at least a few networkers. It's not ideal, but you'd be amazed how many network admins use scripting to help them out :)

It's kind of similar with me; almost no one does programming in my community. One of my cousins does, and so does my former algebra teacher, and also a guy from my church, but they most likely don't have time, and probably don't even know JavaScript (not to speak of assembly); so I have to work on my own - probably the main reason why it's so hard to actually get things done .
