breaking a server loop with enter key

right now i am trying to code a TCP echo server with existing code from TCP/IP Sockets in C: Practical Guide for Programmers. I want to have it echo a whole message back instead of just echoing each key stroke, but despite my best efforts the if statement i try to use to break the while loop doesn't seem to fire off. If anyone has advice about how to do this i would love to hear from you !
