Hi there.

I'm hoping some of you may be able to help me or direct me to relevant information.

For an assignment, I have to create 7 programs. My lecturer wants me to "take advantage of any unique features of the language we are using".
I'm trying to find out what unique features there are before I decide what type of programs to design. I want to ensure that I make good use the features and not just add them in for the sake of it.

He mentioned that the features should be unique for the language itself, and not libraries or APIs that can be associated with the language. So for example, I'm having trouble trying to distinguish unique features of ActionScript3, since the unique features seem to be associated with APIs (I may be wrong?).

The languages I'm going to using are: C++, Java, Lua, PHP, AS3, Prolog and Lisp or Haskell

If anyone knows any features that make these languages unique I would really appreciate your input!

Start by listing the paradigms each language supports. You'll find a TON of differences with just that information.
Programming is a branch of mathematics.
