Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone would like to join a Java learning group. I think it would help a lot, esp for self learners. Here is some of the things I’d like to do:

•Help each other
•Teach each other
•Make projets together
•Would like 1-15 members

Asking someone else to complete your homework wont be allowed, nor is spoon feeding.

I would like programmers on all levels,

I’m teaching my self Java; just a few pages left to finish the book.

If interested feel free to comment, like wise any other comments are welcome.

Or you can reply to the original post @ JPF:

That's what this forum is for... not clear on how your goal is different from being part of the forum.

Its a little bit different than the usual forum. Its more collaborative, learn from/teach each other etc. In short the goal is to find a few members(5-25) on different levels and work together, like a virtual class room basically. A place to learn and get better at programming by coding with others.

How do you envision this working? I've seen a forum, IRC + PasteBin, using software like Blackboard, or a mailing list. Any other ideas?

For beginners we will have tutorials, links to books, courses etc. For intermediate and beginners who can code simple non GUI programs we will have projects, each person will have a specific task to accomplish. The advanced programers will also join in the projects, checking for bad code, bugs, and programming the higher level parts of the project. We have a forum(jclass.freeforums.org) where we will be able to talk about the code, resolve issues and have the links for tutorials and courses for beginners.

We will use vcs to keep everyone code up to date; and chat program to talk to the other members.

Experts are welcome also, but I will have to make sure there is room first if the group gets to big it can get out of hand. Id rather not have members feeling ignored. There currently is space for any one interested though. :D

Sounds like what we do here.

Hello everyone,

The group has quite a few members so I will not accept any new members till further notice. This group is going to be like a virtual class for people teaching them selves, and a place to use what the member(self taught or other wise) has learnt so far and also learn more by coding. For that to work I can't have 400 members in this group.

As said before I might accept more members but till then I need to take care of the current members.

Well, I'm not really a pro, but I'm not a noob either. If you have any more spots available, I would like to join. Also, we can use Google+'s hangout feature to do collaborative coding which includes live google doc sharing and editing and screen sharing. I think would work best. I actually have a group already like this that consists of java beginners and a few experts on G+. PM me you'd like to add me on G+.

So this is supposed to pretty much be a forum, but more "live" ?

EDIT: By the way, in case you look at tags, I'm not the one who made my tag up; I am a person, not a deity.

Not exactly, I am only making forum because it is the best way I found to contact all the members who joined from different forums. Also it is the only way I can think of to let the developers talk with each other when some aren't online.

In other words the forum is only one of the ways I am using to help the members collaborate, and letting me have everyone in the group in one place.
