Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I am currently a student studying Software Engineering at City University London, I saw that alot of people have taken the Apple side and see that as an ideal programming environment. I am currently using a Laptop, and am seriously considering buying a Mac Mini as it seems alot faster than a PC. Would the following specifications be okay for a programmer creating mobile phone apps, and standand PC/Mac apps that will have a basic GUI, also with these specs what would be the most complex type of programming could i do?

Core i5 2.3Ghz
2GB RAM
500GB HDD
Intel HD Graphics 3000

Thanks in advance

It will depend somewhat on the desired language. Using a Mac for .NET languages, for instance, seems like a poor choice. It's important to realize that programming is generally NOT resource intensive, except for compiling.

Well i will primarily be using Java, HTML, PHP and MySQL, but aim to learn C/C++/C#. How would it be for those languages, would it be worthwhile getting a dedicated GPU with it? Im torn between a Macbook and the Mac Mini

Frame of reference: I have developed for most of those on this: Amazon.com: Asus Eee 4G 7" PC Mobile Internet Device (512 MB RAM, 4 GB Hard Drive, Webcam, Linux Preloaded) Pearl White: Computers & Accessories
