Hello all! I would like to take my first PHP site to the web and host it myself. The current owners of the domain name I want said that i could have it transferred to me, but I must give them the "new DNS name servers"/codes
Wondering how I go ahead and get that done?
I'm guessing I register a static IP with my ISP (or whoever) then give them the IP i'm given?
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!
Help with last step for my first "real" php site- Registering DNS Server

First of all, you need a good connection to your server, wherever you have it. the server needs to be properly configured, or it will me a target for massive hack attacks and your server would probably be blacklisted over the whole internet in a week.
As you seem not to know anything on how this works, I suggest that you get a web hotel from any provider. they will help you with everything and give you a good control panel for your server space and provide you with the DNS name server names they need to transfer it.

Shared hosts often have their own DNS servers, i.e. ns1.somehost.com, ns2.somehost.com and you will need to give this to them so that domain.com will ask ns1.somehost.com what IP address to connect to. You could ask your shared hosting provider through their support panel what your options are.
The issue is, if you give whomever sold you the domain the DNS entries, they still own the domain and may change it any any time. If they are not fully trusted, you should ask them to unlock the domain from the domain registrar and securely give you the domain transfer authentication code so that you can get a free DNS host (or similar) and transfer it there.
