Having just started learning Japanese I went to try and enable support for reading/writing the characters on my laptop. However it say it requires a service pack (sp3) CD that I do not have. Is there any way I can get this working without the cd?

Half a decade ago I had tried, and it appears the most simple method is to download (free)/purchase a copy of the disk (a few dollars.)

From a rough search, people seem to link to this, although am not sure what it allows:
Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Windows XP Service Pack 3 MUI Pack Update

And this seems to be the main guide available:

If you don't have cd you can simply download SP3 from the internet and you can easily install it.

Sorry for the late response, had other problems with my computer in the mean time. I did try just installing the sp from the MS site, but that alone didn't do anything, and if there's anything else I needed to do with it, I don't know what.
