Hello everyone! name is Matt.

I stumbled upon this forum while searching for some help on a school assignment in my intro to programming course. I've tried programming in the past but never really got passed simple input output and operator things, Now that I am in college where I can formally learn programming I have a renewed interest in the subject and trying to learn as much as I can in class and out of class.

While I am pretty new to programming I am not to IT. In high school I took 4 year long courses of computer electronics technology, which pretty much just teaches you computer hardware repair, OS proficiency and basic networking. Did well In it, got a few certs and worked in a computer repair shop where I learned I hated the boring repetition of computer repair. So i decided to go back to school to learn to build things, not just maintain them.. and here I am.

I look forward to becoming an active member of the boards and learning a lot. You guys seem like a very knowledgeable and helpful bunch!

Thanks

Currently in class I am learning Python. In my spare time though I am learning Ruby. Soon I would like to get comfortable enough to create a few web app ideas I have in my head with Ruby and the Rails framework.

also why cannot I not replay to my post in the python forum? it keeps saying it has to be reviewed by a moderator.. but i have rewritten the reply 3 times to in hope it would post.. but still nothing? what gives.

Glad you could start with some scripting languages. I've not tried Ruby yet, although I could imagine it'd make a neat language for web programming (and no spacing requirements like Python.)

It is the de-facto antispam forum solution, named Akismet that has caught your post. Sometimes it will cause a false positive and flag your post for review, where it will be seen by a moderator with a symbol beside the thread where we can approve it.

I had approved your latest reply, and it should stop after a few of your posts.

Alexander.
