Hey guys, I just joined and I'm about to start my 2nd year in university.
I've mostly done java (only done java) and I've started last october. I've mostly done it for class but I'd like to get better at it (I'm kinda bad at object-oriented programming, I got a c+.) So I'd love to learn alot more about that.
I'll lurk a bit from now on and post here and there until I get used to the community but don't hesitate to send a PM to say hi or something.
Toodles!

Welcome! I'm sure you'll find lots of excellent help here.
I've always been an opponent, personally, to beginning to teach computer science with Java. I know many people disagree with me, but I feel my education from C++ first and then Java later taught me a much more proper understanding of the underlying methods and data structures that go into object oriented programming. So don't feel bad that you didn't do well at OO programming your first year--I'm sure you'll start to pick it up better here real soon, especially if you hang out on this forum and ask as many questions as you can.

Perfect exacly what I hope will happen. I hope this place motivates me to do really well. Any tips or general ethics of the forum (not sure if you understand what I mean) or just using common sense is enough?
I find it a bit hard to talk about programming in english as I've learned in french (the programming itself is english but I learned it in a french class) so I had to look of programation orientee object in english before that post.
I've heard of others saying java as a first language wasn't as good of an idea as it seemed but I have no opinion on the matter yet.
Thanks,
D-End

As far as forum ethics, take a look at the FAQ's (Link: CodeCall Programming Forum FAQ ) to see a listing of rules and other info that may be helpful to you.
If you find yourself having difficulty asking a question in English, feel free to PM me in French as I've done extensive reading of French programming manuals, and at the very least I can help you word your question appropriately in English for the other forum users.
