I'm just beginning to learn how to program and I really want to learn ASP.net with C#, but I'm not sure how I should go about learning them. I've been told that I should learn ASP.net and C# simultaneously but I haven't found a good book for beginners that teaches you both. Can anyone recommend me a book that will teach me both simultaneously or am I better off getting two separate books about asp.net and c# and if so what books would you recommend?

It's all about personal preference buddy.
When I started learning C# I learned C# only, from some book that I can't remember. I discovered that I perform best when I self-study[mostly during night hours] and ask questions at forums. Others like to go to a private teacher, or class.
Back to our subject. I've never seen a book that teaches you 2 programming languages at the same time, especially ASP .NET which is a web programming language together with C#. I'd pick up a separate book for each.
Some books you might like -
Books: The Official Microsoft ASP.NET Site
C# Programming Books
O'Really books(generally considered good) -
Programming C# 4.0 - O'Reilly Media
Build Your Own ASP.NET Website Using C# and VB.NET - O'Reilly Media
If you Google a little you might even find some free EBooks.
Good luck on your studies, and never be afraid to ask questions - that's what forums are for ;)

Actually Wrox publishing has a book just for this purpose. I think it's called beginning asp.net 4 in VB and C#. I'm currently running through it myself. It covers a good amount of C# or VB. Every example comes in both languages as well. I think the website is Programming Books, Free Code Downloads, Ebooks, Blogs, Articles, Forums - Wrox. If not you can just google wrox. You can also buy it on Amazon (it's one of the best reviewed).
Goodluck!
