What is your opinion on using a software reseller (such as payproglobal.com )?

I have heard great things about them and yet on the other hand I have heard horror stories about resellers renaming the author's software and claiming it as their own and even reselling it on their own without paying the author.

They got a C from the Better Business Bureau. To me, that means the customers are starting to steer clear of them, and as a software developer, I would too. Given that "payproglobal reviews" gives nothing positive in the first few hits outside of their site, I can't see where you're finding great things about them. I'd rather sell through more reputable sites as shareware or crippleware.

In that case is there a thread on here that anyone likes that talks about how to sell software on your own website? I'm rummaging through the search after this post but I would always like to have the opinion of the members.

Wow, I asked them about their stance on copyright and ownership and this is what they said:

Quote

Briefly, you sell the product to us and we resell it internationally. We have a flash-owneship over the product we resell. We will own the product during the transaction period - not your software or intellectual property, but the executable and/or license we purchase at the time of the transaction and resell it to the end user at which point it is owned by the end user. The EULA licensing is between you and the end user. We don't claim any ownership over your intellectual property or software, of course.

From the agreement:

9. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.
a) All intellectual property rights in the Website are and shall remain the property of Paypro, and the Author shall not remove any markings, trade names or logos from any product of Paypro.
b) All intellectual property rights in the Products shall at all times remain the sole property of the Author or its licensors. Nothing contained in this Agreement shall grant to Paypro any right, title or interest in and to the Products or to the trademarks, copyrights, patents or trade secrets of the Author or its licensors.
c) Paypro shall not alter, erase or deface any trademark, trade name, copyright and other notices of proprietary rights used by the Author for the Products and will not during or after the term of this Agreement, assert or claim any interest in, or do anything that may adversely affect the validity or enforceability thereof.
d) Paypro shall use its best efforts to protect the proprietary rights of the Author and its licensors and to cooperate in the Author's efforts to protect such rights. Paypro agrees to promptly notify the Author of any actual or suspected violation of such proprietary rights of which it has knowledge.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Kind regards,

Not that I recall. It seems you've started such a discussion thread, however :)
