Hey fellas,

Hopefully this is the appropriate section for this topic.

I'm trying to move forward with my C# program with databases after going through a great tutorial on the subject by sam_coder.

I'm trying to install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 on the computer (Win XP) that will be running my program after it's complete. However, I'm running into issues during the install. I keep getting the error "The credential you provided for the sql server agent is invalid".

I've searched on the internet for a solution, but I can't seem to find anything of help. I'm already trying to install under the local Default Local Administrator user (only user account on the system) so many solutions I've found online don't help.

The computer is connected to a network with a server, so I'm not sure if that would make any difference. (I don't have any experience with networked machines).

The Microsoft SQL Server 2008 installed without a problem on my laptop also running XP.

Hopefully one of you guys can aid in this process.

What credential did you supply for the SQL Server Agent?

Wow, I'm a little embarrassed...

After you said that and I went through the installation again, I realized I didn't have any account selected in the Server Configuration step.. I just selected the local account from the drop down options and everything went through fine.

Thanks for your help, though. I guess every once and a while you still need a search party to find what's in plain sight.
