Hello arjhay!
As Alexander said, unless you really have to stick to that language as some kind of assignment requirement, it would be better if you could invest your time in the newer versions of VB!

Hi Arjhay, glad you could join us.
Yes there are some fundamental differences regarding the environment program runs in, the data types it can use and to a smaller extent in code. May be reading a quick overview of .NET Common Language Runtime etc. would give you an overview.
Having said that, much of the syntax is retained in .NET
